On Saturday, April 27th, the Village of Cairo will be having their annual clean up day. We have scheduled for containers to be here from 9:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. These containers are for Cairo residents only. This will give residents in town an opportunity to clean up their property and to dispose of any unwanted items. A drop off container is being provided by Heartland Disposal to dispose of unwanted items. This container will be next to the Legion bldg (across main street from the Village Hall). Alter Metal will also have a container there for metal. There is a separate site out by the lagoons to dispose of any yard wastes (branches, leaves & grass clippings). There are a number of items that CANNOT be put in the container that is provided by Heartland Disposal. These items include appliances, grass, leaves, tree branches, cans of paint with liquid paint (open cans with completely dried paint can be taken), motor oil, car batteries and tires. The grass, leaves and tree branches may go to site by lagoons. No tires, batteries or liquid paint will be taken. The sites will be monitored to assure that items listed above are not placed in the container and that other items are placed in proper locations. Anyone needing special assistance should contact Village Hall. If you have any questions, call the Village Hall at 485-4400. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated in cleaning up our community.
