On Sunday August 24th, at 2:00 p.m., the Cairo Roots Museum will host University of Nebraska-Kearney professor H. Jason Combs who will speak about his recent article that was published in Heritage of the Great Plains. The topic for the day will be about the Balcom-Green collection of glass negatives that are housed at the museum, including the photographic process that Henry Balcom and Ray Green used to capture images of the Cairo area more than 100 years ago. The Balcom-Green collection also contains a number of images of prominent American icons and landscapes, ranging from the construction of the Manhattan Bridge and the Statue of Liberty to Old Faithful and downtown San Francisco.
Refreshments will be served following the presentation and the public is welcome. The Roots Museum is located in the Cairo Community Center.”
