The Village of Cairo maintains a membership with the Sandhills Journey Scenic Byway organization. The organization’s vision is to improve our rural economy by working cooperatively to enhance the visitor experience. Because of this groups financial support the Village of Cairo has had the opportunity to talk about our restaurants, golf course, business park and Cairo events in booth space at the Nebraska State Fair, Omaha Boat Show and Nebraska Agri/Eco Tourism conference. The organization develops and purchases travel brochures that include Cairo and distributes them along I-80. Cairo events and services are featured in many Sandhills Journey Scenic Byway advertisements placed in magazines, on television and radio. Last year the Sandhills Journey Scenic Byway awarded a scholarship to Centura graduate Abby Hadenfeldt. The marketing value of this $25 annual membership has easily exceeded $10,000 in marketing value over the last few years.
