With a donation from the Cairo Volunteer Fire Department, Moses Comfort Dog and Shawn and Nancy Harders were able to travel to Boise Idaho to attend the Wildland Firefighters Memorial weekend.
The weekend was attended by 150 family members and friends of Firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Comfort Dogs Rueben and Aaron from California and handlers also attended. Many grieving people were able to hug, hold, and pet the dogs which gave them comfort.
Just one story is of a firefighter who died last year in a helicopter crash. His wife, son, and daughter attended the memorial. Also attending was one of the surviving crew members. He was badly burned trying to save the others. They were able to share their memories easier with the Comfort Dogs present. They very much appreciated the support we gave them. The Moses Comfort Dog team would like to give a big thank you to the CVF for their generous support to the Comfort Dog Ministry.
