The annual Follow the Rails Art Trail takes place along Highway 2 between Grand Island and Alliance, Nebraska, October 16-18, 2015 – a total of 272 miles across the state. Join over 100 artists, as they share their interpretation of life along the Sandhills Journey Scenic Byway in central Nebraska. Brochures, posters, and signs along the way will identify all locations participating in the tour.
You will find artists’ cooperatives, galleries, and individual studios open on this self-guided tour, in 13 communities. Painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, sculpture, iron art, printmaking, quilting, glass, wood carving/turning, fabric arts, beading, jewelry, mixed media, and more will be on display and for sale.
You can sample specialty wines and cheeses, enjoy great culinary choices to satisfy your appetite (not to mention the best homegrown beef, pork, or buffalo meat), visit several interpretive museums, view NE National Forest near Halsey, go antique shopping, bird watching, and enjoy panoramic scenery along the way.
Cairo will be participating in the Follow the Rails Art Trail this year. Vendor space is available at the community center to display and demonstrate your artistic or craftsmanship talents. To participate in this years Follow the Rails Art Trail please visit: Follow The Rails Art Trail
