Cairo Steering Committee is working on Cairo’s Point of Entry sign.
Just this last weekend a softball tournament hosted by Anna Rathke, Rozy Dibbern, Barb Knopik, Kate Bohling, and Charity Adams raised nearly $900 for the Cairo Community Foundation Point of Entry Sign Fund.
The 1st annual Softball Junkies tournament included six teams, a beer garden by the Watering Hole and concessions by Mom’s Lunchbox. The Roth team went home with a custom-crafted trophy by Rozy Dibbern, popcorn from Craig Welty, treats from Pump & Pantry, and water bottles from Pathway Bank. Special thanks to Brent McDonald for preparing the ball fields, Tom Roth, Laurel Roth, Rod Jantzi, and Mike Stutzman for umping and all the players for playing in the Softball Junkies event.
The day was such a success that numerous players are calling for a two-day event next year. Watch for details on this tournament in 2020.
The committee has secured Cairo’s maintenance building for a mural. The committee is working with an artist on designing and painting the mural. The committee plans to landscape the area, add solar lighting and is interested in adding a few sculptures.
